Before we begin I am assuming we need to draft in the AHL draft players who have already been drafted and I can't go ripping off and grabbing Ryan Nugent Hopkins one year before he is even eligible for the NHL draft.

I just wanted to clarify this so some smart ass (ok myself) doesn't go and do this to you!

Yes...they have to have been drafted through the NHL...I do not want to see some 16 year old phenomenon get picked up. If I need to clarify this in the gameplay rules i will.
