Long Term DL
Do we need one for players that get a concussion and are basically out for the year?
And given the amount of injuries hockey players get, I figure most people would want to fully utilize their 3 DL slots for injuries that can heal within the season unlike the marc savard scenario.
Lets talk, I am open to possibilities.

Long Term DL
I am in favor of a Long Term DL position.

meh. Forces owners to make tough choices. I'd say 3 IR positions is enough. Would it be just for concussions or any long term injury? Because if it's just concussions that's only a handful of guys.

I was thinking just concussions of the Marc Savard or Sidney Crosby type. All other injuries you basically know how long a person is going to be out...but with the concussion it never is assured.
Basically it would be once a manager decides to place a player on long term IR, they would be deemed inactive for the season...even if they came back a manager could not recall them.
For example,
If Crosby got a concussion in November and it was expected to be a couple of months, the owner could decide to place him on normal IR and have access when he returned.
OR
Place him on long term IR and player comes off the team roster to open up a spot and is designated inactive for the remainder of the year.

Stay with just the 3 IR spots
